Dean Smith has confirmed that there is a good chance Anwar El Ghazi will be available at the weekend against Leicester City, which would be a significant injury boost.
Villa host second-placed Leicester on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League and will go into the match as underdogs.
The Midlands club suffered a 2-1 away defeat to Chelsea in midweek, but before that recorded a draw with Manchester United and a win over Newcastle United.
They currently sit 16th in the table a point above the relegation places and need to target their home fixtures.
El Ghazi was forced off in the first-half against Manchester United last weekend with a knee injury, which also saw him sidelined for the Chelsea defeat.
But the 24-year-old winger may now be available again for the welcome of Leicester.
“Anwar El Ghazi should train tomorrow so he’ll make himself available for the Leicester game,” Smith said, as quoted by the club’s official Youtube account.
With El Ghazi possibly available again for Villa, should Smith bring him straight back into the starting XI?
The Dutch attacker has been a key player so far this campaign, with four goals and five assists in 15 games across all competitions so far.
Smith surely has to find a way to slot him back into the team if he passes a late fitness test, as he’s someone that can dribble either way and would be a real threat to a formidable Leicester defence.
With Jack Grealish thriving on the left flank, Trezeguet should make way despite scoring three times in his last four league appearances.
