Aston Villa manager Dean Smith appears to be happy with the way January deadline day signing Borja Baston is settling in at the club.
Speaking ahead of the match against Tottenham this weekend, Villa’s official Twitter account posted a video of Smith commenting on how Baston is getting on.
He said: “Since he’s come in he’s trained really well with the group. He’s settled in straight away. He knows a couple of the players anyway, Pepe Reina and Jota.
“I’ve been really pleased with the training. The players needed that break to go and reflect and review and regenerate. Training has been a really good standard.”

TBR’s View – Winter break came at perfect time to allow Baston to settle
January signings are generally expected to come in and hit the ground running but it can be difficult when they don’t have much time to adjust to their new surroundings and team-mates.
But the break has given Baston time to train on a consistent basis with Villa – which is a rare luxury indeed for a new-boy – and that does raise the chances of him making an instant impact.
Baston need not be a goal machine but if he can chip in with a couple of crucial goals between now and the end of the season, that could make all the difference for Villa.
