‘I’m so happy for him’: Dean Henderson says one of his Forest teammates was ‘unbelievable’ against West Ham

Dean Henderson enjoyed the dream home debut for Nottingham Forest today as he kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty against West Ham.

The summer signing from Manchester United was on fine form as he produced a number of excellent moments to keep the Hammers at bay, including a fine reaction save from a close-range Tomas Soucek header. Of course, his crowing moment came in saving Declan Rice’s penalty in the second half to seal the win.

However, while Henderson enjoyed plenty of praise during and after the game, the goalkeeper found time himself to laud the performance of Forest defender, Joe Worrall.

“This place is a fortress. The fans have been bouncing all game and they deserve this one. What an occasion. 23 years. I’m so happy for him [Worrall]. He’s been unbelievable today,” Henderson said about Worrall on Sky Sports.

Worrall has remained one of the constants in the Forest XI from last season, despite the plethora of new signings at the City Ground. He is expected to keep his place in the back three, unless Steve Cooper brings in a number of other new faces before September.

They rode their luck at times against the Hammers, but few will deny Forest deserved to keep West Ham out in the end.

Henderson stepped up to the plate when it mattered which is why he was brought in. And in terms of first outings in front of your new home fans go, it was pretty much perfect.

His praise for Worrall was warranted as well. The Forest defender was a rock at the back at times and it’s that sort of performance and attitude from Worrall that will go a long way to helping the Reds stay up.
