'Deal now done': Fabrizio Romano claims Aston Villa have made significant transfer breakthrough
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Aston Villa have sealed a deal for Glasgow Rangers talent Rory Wilson.
The transfer insider wrote on Twitter that the two clubs have reached full agreement for the 16-year-old’s transfer.
Villa will reportedly pay £350,000 up front, with add-ons potentially taking the fee to £1million.
Romano added that personal terms were finalised last week and that the paperwork will be signed on 1 July.
Villa and Rangers were reportedly at loggerheads over Wilson’s transfer to B6.
As per the Daily Mail, the clubs initially couldn’t agree on the fee.
Rangers were reportedly adamant they were due substantially more than just Villa’s offers.
However, Villa apparently warned Rangers they could end up just paying cross-border training compensation.
This is because Wilson was on amateur forms until the end of the year and would be signing his first professional contract at Villa.
But in the end, both parties struck a deal, which avoids FIFA having to step in to resolve the matter.
“He bothers defenders”
Wilson is one of Britain’s most talented youngsters, bagging 49 goals at youth level for club and country last season.
The Daily Record wrote an in-depth scouting article about the ‘lively frontman’ earlier this week.
They wrote: “He bothers defenders winning an average of 2.6 of his aerial challenges during his appearances, while winning 25 per cent of his challenges per game.
“Wilson also rarely wasted possession when he claimed the ball, having an accuracy rate of 77 per cent when linked up with a teammate.
“The English Premier League side would be landing a player who looks destined for the top.”
