'Deal now agreed': Fabrizio Romano shares Crystal Palace exit update
Crystal Palace talent Zion Atta will complete a move to Nice today, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 16-year-old’s future at Selhurst Park has been uncertain since the start of the year.
90Min reported in January that Atta had signed with Mino Raiola and was determined to move to a continental European club.
The decision apparently left Crystal Palace chiefs shocked as they envisaged the player breaking into first-team contention by 2022.
The Athletic has now claimed that Atta has left the club after failing to agree terms on a new contract.
The outlet reported that Palace weren’t prepared to break their strict wage structure for academy players.
Atta reportedly wanted around £2,000-per-week.
Now, Romano has claimed on Twitter that a deal between Atta and Nice was verbally agreed “weeks ago” and has now been signed.
Atta joined Palace signed from Millwall in January 2019 after trials with Manchester United and Chelsea among others.
The Eagles reportedly paid training compensation of around £60,000 with add-ons contingent on any future success.
Atta made his Palace Under-18 debut last season, but made just one appearance at that level.
The Eagles will be due compensation, but as per The Athletic, this will be lower than if Atta had joined another English club.
