A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Steven Bergwijn’s display as Jose Mourinho’s Spurs recorded a second consecutive victory in pre-season.
Having begun the 2020-21 programme with a 3-0 win over Ipswich last Saturday, Championship side Reading made the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon.
Bergwijn missed out at the weekend but was named in Tottenham’s starting XI against the Royals, a game which the hosts won 4-1.

An early Omar Richards own goal saw Spurs gifted the lead, before great Dele Alli and Son Heung-min finishes, plus an Erik Lamela free kick, had Mourinho’s side four up.
George Puscas then netted a consolation from the penalty spot for the Royals 10 minutes from time.
In the first half, Bergwijn picked up Lucas Moura’s ball down the left flank and delivered towards the centre of the box for Son to net Spurs’ third goal.
The 22-year-old was a constant threat after the break too, continuing to look dangerous on the left, until being subbed off on 61 minutes.
Some Spurs supporters were pleased with the Dutchman’s display and shared their thoughts on social media:
Bergwijn joined Tottenham from PSV Eindhoven in January for a reported £27million fee, penning a contract until 2025, and has made 16 competitive appearances for Spurs to date.
