Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Jack Grealish has a “tough decision” to make this summer and “deserves everything he gets”, according to Aston Villa teammate Conor Hourihane.
The 24-year-old has long been linked with a move away from Villa and, although he has three years left on his contract, he isn’t expected to remain at his boyhood club beyond this season.
Goal.com claims that Tottenham are still interested in Grealish, though Spurs are thought to be up against Everton and reported frontrunners Manchester United.
The attacker, who nearly joined Tottenham in 2018, is thought to be valued at £70million by Villa but could be available for £50million if they go down, according to The Sun.
Hourihane, who previously deemed Grealish “too good” for Villa’s current side, has once again spoken highly of his teammate.
“Jack’s obviously hugely talented, he’s our talisman and he’s had a fantastic season,” Hourihane told Sky Sports. “He’s been linked with so many clubs, lots of top teams around Europe.
“It’s going to be a tough summer and a tough decision for Jack. Hopefully, first and foremost, he keeps us up – that is the most important thing for the football club.
“And then, whatever Jack decides to do, that’s up to him. He deserves everything he gets. For me, he should be in the England squad as well because he has something that nobody else does, in my opinion.”
With Aston Villa perilously close to suffering relegation back to the Championship, Grealish is not expected to regress back to the second tier with his club should they drop out of the Premier League.
Tottenham are very much in need of bolstering their ranks this summer and Grealish, who reportedly earns £100,000-a-week (Goal.com), would be a high-calibre acquisition for any top-flight outfit.
Admittedly, Grealish won’t come cheap, but given how well he has done this campaign and how much he could offer to Spurs, he would undoubtedly be worth it – he’d make an immediate impact, is very marketable, and has plenty of years ahead of him.
