Davinson Sanchez backs Alfredo Morelos to be a hit at Rangers and beyond

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has had another excellent season in Scottish football. The Colombian scored 30 goals in 48 games for the Glasgow club as he continues to score goals for fun at Ibrox. It is that sort of form which has seen him linked with an exit from Rangers this summer.

Plenty of teams around Europe are keen on the player who is valued at £20 million, according to the Daily Record.

Unfortunately, Steven Gerrard cannot exactly rely upon Morelos. The striker also has a shocking disciplinary record. He picked up five red cards this season and has been a target for opposing players when it comes to winding up the 22-year-old.

One player who believes Morelos can continue to thrive in Glasgow is fellow Colombian Davinson Sanchez.

The Tottenham Hotspur star, who cost Spurs a reported (The Guardian) £42 million in 2017, is preparing for the Champions League final in Madrid. He knows Morelos and told the Scottish Sun that he thinks the Colombian can improve further at Rangers.

“Can he reach the top level? Yeah, yeah, everyone can.

“I don’t know if he will change for another club, but it’s also a case that he can score more and more goals and become better than he is right now for his current club.

“His mentality is going to improve a lot. I will say all the things that have happened in his life are going to be important for him to improve.”

Rangers fans will undoubtedly hope that Morelos does stick around but it is great to see how highly-rated he is amongst his peers.

Morelos was unfortunate not to be included in the Colombia squad for this summer’s Copa America and kerbing those discipline issues could give him a huge boost in his future international hopes.

Sanchez will undoubtedly be hoping to team up with him sometime soon.
