Everton under-23 manager David Unsworth has heaped praise on young winger Josh Bowler for his latest display for the academy.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Unsworth singled Bowler out for special praise after a match-winning performance.
In the 2-1 win over Sheffield United, Bowler provided two assists as Everton came from behind to win in the Premier League Cup group stage.
The 19-year-old sent in a low cross for Bassala Sambou to equalise with seven minutes remaining before setting up Manasse Mampala in stoppage time.
Unsworth raved about Bowler’s performance. He said: “Josh Bowler was terrific. We need to get the ball to his feet in the final third and that’s where you see his magic.
“He did great for both goals, he’s been out for a couple of weeks but that 90 minutes and the two assists will do him the world of good.”

The next challenge for Bowler now will be to consistently produce these performances and convince Marco Silva that he deserves a promotion.
With little to play for this season, Silva has license to be a bit more experimental with his team selections and Bowler is one of many starlets impressing.
The ex-QPR winger has the potential to become a future first-team star and Silva might consider fast-tracking him if he can keep up this level of performance in the under-23 side.
