Everton fans have plenty of young players to be getting excited about at the moment. Anthony Gordon, Ellis Simms and Tyler Onyango are just three names who Everton supporters should remember.
Now it looks like another name could be added to that list. Liam Higgins.
Last night saw Everton’s under-23s defeat Watford in St Albans. A solitary goal from the aforementioned Simms secured victory, his 10th goal of the season.

But it was Higgins who provided the assist on what was his debut for the under-23s.
Speaking to the official Everton website after the game, under-23 boss David Unsworth spoke in glowing terms about the 17-year-old.
“It was nice for Liam to get an assist. He’s come into the group and trained with us and I’ve liked him straight away.
“He’s hungry. I asked him if he wanted to come on and he said ‘yes’ and I asked if he could play right midfield and he said ‘yes’. I don’t know if he ever has [played there before] but he was terrific and it was a great pass for the goal.”
The teenager, who only turned 17 in January, joined the club in December 2017 and is a Welsh under-16 international.
Everton have a decent record when it comes to bringing youngsters through the academy. The likes of Tom Davies and Anthony Gordon are currently in the first-team having done so and Wayne Rooney, perhaps most famously, came up through the School of Science.
Higgins is now on that road himself and at just 17 has had the perfect debut with the under-23s. Hopefully, he can make a name for himself at Finch Farm.
