David Seaman has told the Talksport Sports Breakfast that he believed Jordan Pickford is rightly still considered England’s number one goalkeeper.
The ex-Arsenal and England star was quizzed on the Three Lions number one position, with Pickford coming under fire for some erratic form last season.

Pickford, 26 enjoyed a solid start to the 2020/21 campaign, however, keeping a clean sheet against Tottenham on Sunday.
Seaman made 75 appearances for England and he sees no reason why Pickford should lose his place in Gareth Southgate’s ranks.
He told the Talksport Sports Breakfast: “As the England goalkeeper you’re always going to be under pressure.
“For me, he’s done nothing wrong for England to warrant getting dropped.
“Of course he’s got competition from Henderson and Pope but Henderson needs to be playing regularly for starters, he’s back at Manchester United now, so will he play?
“Pickford is still England’s best goalkeeper by a mile, for me.”
Seaman’s comments are certainly interesting and should spark some debate among England supporters.
He does have a point, however, when he says that the Everton stopper hasn’t done a deal wrong in an England shirt.
Pickford kept just nine clean sheets from 38 appearances in the Premier League last season and he will hope for a better return this time around.

Everton have bolstered their ranks under Carlo Ancelotti and Pickford knows that is he is to keep his place in the team, he’ll have to keep performing.
The Italian has ambitions of European football and that should be enough motivation for Pickford to revive his form this season.
