David Seaman has tipped Gabriel Jesus to just get better and better for Arsenal, as he lauded the striker for his overall performance in their win over Brighton at the weekend.
Gabriel Jesus scored only his third goal of the Premier League season on Sunday, opening the scoring at the start of the second-half against the Seagulls at the Emirates.
The 26-year-old continues to have something of a point to prove within Mikel Arteta’s side. There is no question that he has been an unbelievable signing in a lot of ways. However, he has not managed to silence all of his critics.
David Seaman tips Gabriel Jesus to get better and better for Arsenal
Jesus was poor in the recent defeat to Aston Villa. And he does not score enough goals, finding the back of the net just 18 times in 51 games for the Gunners in all competitions.

In fact, he remains behind Eddie Nketiah in Arsenal’s scoring charts in the league this season. But David Seaman – who was speaking on his Seaman Says podcast – has tipped the former Manchester City man to really start turning a corner if he can stay fit.
“Like you say, it’s not just his goalscoring, it’s his interactions in the game,” he said.
“His contribution is brilliant and there are little bits that you don’t expect him to do, like little dragbacks or holding off defenders that are almost twice his size, the strength of him on the ball is brilliant.
“So his contribution in normal gameplay is really good, I’d probably want him to add more goals, but if you put him on a one-v-one or a really tight situation, you know that he’ll produce something that gets that goal.
“He’s capable of that and the more that he gets game time, the better and better he’s going to get.”
Forward was a massive signing for Mikel Arteta’s men
Jesus does bring so much to the side. His arrival helped drive standards to another level. And he clearly brings so much to the attack, particularly in the build-up play.
He definitely could score more goals. And unfortunately, his injury record since signing for Arsenal has been frustrating.
Eddie Nketiah seems to be the more ruthless finisher. However, Nketiah arguably does not make anything like the contribution Jesus offers.
And unless Arsenal are going to go out and sign another striker in the January transfer window, it is surely Jesus who Mikel Arteta trusts to try and get them over the line in the Premier League title race.
