David Seaman makes Harry Kane prediction
David Seaman has told the Seaman Says podcast that Harry Kane will end his wait for a Premier League goal soon, but admitted that it is worrying to see how much the Tottenham Hotspur star is struggling.
Kane has endured a really tough start to the campaign. He has not scored in six appearances in the Premier League.
He has found the back of the net in the Europa Conference League. But his struggles have continued onto international duty.
After not playing against Andorra, he returned to the starting lineup for the World Cup qualifier with Hungary on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, he failed to score. And one moment seemed to sum up Kane’s season to date as he sliced an effort well wide.
He was offside. But Seaman conceded that it was an alarming sign that Kane’s effort was so poor given that he was unaware that the flag was going up.
“It is worrying,” he told Seaman Says. “To be fair, it makes you wonder what’s on his mind. Even the chance that he had where he was offside – but he didn’t know he was offside – he didn’t even hit the target. Normally, that’s like back of the net stuff all day long.
“He’s just having a bit of a rough patch. Everybody knows that that will come to an end soon because he is that good.”
Harry Kane clearly to be given time to turn fortunes around
As Seaman suggests, Kane will come good at some stage. He enjoyed arguably the best season of his career just last term.
What will help is that he is not going to be dropped for club or country anytime soon.
Tottenham do not have the attacking depth to leave him out too much. Obviously, they coped fairly well when he was working his way back to full fitness at the start of the campaign.
Similarly, Gareth Southgate is not going to drop him down the pecking order.
And once a few goals go in, it is not hard to imagine Kane rediscovering his best form once again.
