Arsenal failed to beat newly-promoted Norwich City at Carrow Road on Sunday afternoon as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw with Freddie Ljungberg taking control of his first match – but David Seaman has praised Bernd Leno on Twitter.
Norwich took the lead in the first half a Teemu Pukki ended his goalscoring drought, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised from the spot. VAR ordered a retake after Tim Krul had saved the spot-kick, and the Gunners skipper scored.
Daniel Farke’s side then took the lead, as the impressive Todd Cantwell curled an effort into the far corner. Luckily for Arsenal, Aubameyang equalised and Leno kept out efforts from multiple Norwich players – including Cantwell and Pukki.
It was another disappointing result for Arsenal, who have now failed to win in their last eight league games. But Arsenal legend Seaman heaped praise on Leno, and at the same time slamming the rest of the Gunners players.
Leno has been one of Arsenal’s brighter players this season, but it says more about the Arsenal defence that the £19.3million (Mirror) signing has only managed to keep two clean sheets in 14 league games this season.
TBR’s view – Can Arsenal take advantage of busy Christmas period?
Arsenal take on Brighton, a struggling West Ham, 17th-placed Everton and Manchester City in their next four games. City aside, Arsenal are more than capable of winning nine points, while City are not in the best of form either.
Norwich had come into the game after a win over Everton and at Carrow Road, they are a strong side. At home to Brighton on Thursday, who narrowly lost to Liverpool on Saturday, is a match they need to take three points from.
