Aston Villa kick off life under Unai Emery with a tough clash against Manchester United and David Seaman has given his prediction.
Emery moves into the managerial hot seat at Villa Park in place of the departed Steven Gerrard. The former Arsenal manager comes with a hefty reputation. Despite failing a tad in North London, his achievements in Spain are widely recognised.

Of course, a game against Manchester United is as tough an opener as you can get. Erik ten Hag’s men are finding form after riding an early wave of inconsistency. And offering his prediction on Aston Villa v Manchester United, former Arsenal man David Seaman believes things will get off to a bad start for Emery here.
“I’m going to go with a Manchester United win, I’m going to go 3-1 Manchester United,” Seaman said on his Seaman Says podcast.
Villa put in a fine performance in their first game without Steven Gerrard. They hammered Southampton 4-0. However, the Villans were brought back down to earth by Newcastle last week. Eddie Howe’s men sticking four of their own past Villa.
Emery, then, will be hoping for a big response.
TBR’s View: Prediction for Villa v United is a tough one to make
Seaman has gone with the obvious here but in football, there’s so much to consider.
Villa may well have the new manager bounce so many talk about. They’ll also be in front of a Villa Park crowd high on emotion and expectancy. That might help drive them home to a result, but United are a tough opponent.
You feel a draw for Emery would be a good start here. He won’t want to be hammered. On the flipside, he won’t want to simply turn up, defend, and invite United onto his side.
It’s a tricky one to call, this. However, Seaman might well be right in that United might just have that bit too much quality.
