Former Arsenal goalkeeper, David Seaman, believes the club needs to back Mikel Arteta with new players after their 1-1 draw with Southampton last night.
Seaman, who was speaking to Talksport this morning, dismissed claims that the Gunners need to be looking at moving Arteta on.

Instead, the former England stopper believes Arsenal need to back their man with his own players, while he also called on the current squad to cut out the sillyness and mistakes costing them at the moment.
“We all know how good Arsenal can be. But at the moment it’s not happening, there’s a massive lack of confidence. If I’m honest, it can’t get any worse. But I know people at the training ground and they tell me Arteta’s coaching techniques are fantastic.
“What I would say, is a lot of that team was under Wenger and Emery. He hasn’t got his own team yet and the club needs to back him on that. We can all see he needs players.”
Arsenal’s equaliser last night came courtesy of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who managed to get his name on the scoresheet for only the third time all season.

The Gunners face Everton on Saturday in what will be another tough encounter for Mikel Arteta to plan for.

Arsenal have got to stick with Arteta for a bit now. They can’t keep chopping and changing, and his FA Cup win probably does buy him some more time as well.
At times, as Seaman says, the Gunners look brilliant. But at other times, the look like anyone in the league can beat them.
That needs to change and new players, as well as a bit of a clearout, can only help that further.
