David Ornstein has given his thoughts on the speculation linking Arsenal with Victor Osimhen ahead of the January transfer window.

The Gunners have been linked with one of the most highly sought-after players in world football in recent weeks.

For instance, TEAMtalk reported in November that Arsenal are “keen to make a deal happen” for Osimhen in the summer.

Ornstein hosted a Q&A on The Athletic, where fans asked him questions involving some of the most pressing topics in English football at present.

One fan asked Ornstein whether he felt Arsenal could indeed trigger Osimhen’s £112million clause at the end of the season.

“I have no information at present to suggest that but of course I suspect he is on the recruitment list of Arsenal and many other leading clubs,” replied Ornstein.

“Should be another fascinating summer in the striker market. High demand, low supply…

“Expect prices to rocket and therefore £112million for a player of his calibre might represent a ‘bargain’!

Arsenal would go up another level with Victor Osimhen

Osimhen is a player of the absolute highest level, one who could well be in the running to win Ballons d’Or in future.

Last year, Inter Milan legend Christian Vieri said, as per PF: “Osimhen is really good, in a year he will be one of the best in the world.”

Since then, he has gone from strength to strength, helping Napoli win their first Serie A title since 1990 this year.

Daily Mail column from February deemed Osimhen “the world’s best centre-forward” and a “more complete No. 9” than Erling Haaland.

This season, the Nigeria international has seven goals and two assists from 15 club outings. He also has 20 goals from 27 appearances for the Super Eagles overall.

Osimhen would be an amazing signing for Arsenal, who’d certainly go up yet another level with him in their ranks.

However, he won’t be cheap, and competition for him will be fierce, so the Gunners will have to really work hard on and off the pitch to show they are a destination worthy of his services.
