Arsenal fans love a transfer window after recent seasons have brought them success and this January is another chance for them to improve.

The summer window saw huge signings like Kai Havertz and Declan Rice get done and it has paid off, with the Gunners sitting top of the table as it stands.

However, Mikel Arteta is a man who likes to keep improving his squad. He is believed to be looking for a new striker and could even sell Eddie Nketiah to fund such a move.

And according to David Ornstein, a new striker is indeed where Arsenal could make their move if they do decide to get busy once again.

David Ornstein shares Arsenal transfer update

Speaking to NBC Sports on Arsenal’s January business, Ornstein had the following to say.

“They’ll try and reinforce their squad in terms of what they’ve got. We’ve seen the key contract renewals they’ve done. Will they be looking to do anything in January? I don’t think they’ll be looking to but let’s see how the coming weeks go. Definitely the first amount of money they get, needs to be to make the David Raya deal. They might look to a deal for a striker but I think that’s more likely for the summer. Maybe a six or an eight if there’s departures for a Jorginho or a Thomas Partey. And they do like players, we’ve seen players linked like Neves, Zubimendi have been linked but I don’t hear anything credible just yet,” Ornstein said

One final push

If you are Mikel Arteta, you are pushing the board for one more window of backing to get this Premier League title landed.

They have somehow got themselves into another brilliant position after throwing it away last season and Arteta will be desperate for his team to not fall short this time around.

A new striker has been tipped for some time and the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Benjamin Sesko are among the names being touted.

Whether or not the board do decide to back the manager with yet more money in January, remains to be seen. With FFP to consider and player sales to factor in, it’s a fine balancing act.

Certainly, though, if a new striker can be signed, then it’s a massive boost for the Gunners.
