David Ornstein says he’s been told three Newcastle players are untouchable

There’s been plenty of chat about Newcastle selling players this month.

The Magpies need to balance the books in terms of FFP if they want to have a summer of spending, and that may mean some big-name departures.

Some have suggested that Newcastle will have to sell one of their very best players in the near future, but speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast, David Ornstein has stated that this probably isn’t the case.

Indeed, Ornstein says that while Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak have been discussed in the media as players who could potentially leave, when he’s made his checks he’s immediately been pushed away from the idea of any of those three leaving the club in the near future.

Isak, Botman and Bruno won’t leave

Ornstein shared what he’s heard about the potential outgoings at St James’ Park.

“The word within football is that an outgoing is going to happen at Newcastle whether it’s January or the summer there has to be a significant sale. Off the back of that came reports that it would be one of the star names like Botman, Guimaraes, or Alexander Isak, but I was immediately pushed away from those names, those are the players Newcastle want to keep and build with,” Ornstein said.

Relief

Newcastle may be finding it tough to spend at the moment, but their long-term goal is still to become a Premier League powerhouse, and if they are to do that, they need to keep their key players together.

Botman, Bruno and Isak are undoubtedly the Magpies’ three prized assets, and if Newcastle are going to build towards success in the coming years, those three will all be key.

Of course, FFP is causing problems in terms of spending, but even if Newcastle did have an unlimited budget, they’d probably find it tough to sign any players who would be upgrades on these three.

The fact that this trio will be staying is a huge relief.
