David Ornstein says £52m player has now flown to London to sign for Arsenal

Arsenal are yet to make their first signing of the summer transfer window, but the wait could soon be over.

Arsenal have looked at a number of top players this summer, but, as of yet, no deal is over the line.

However, now, the Gunners could be about to make their first signing of the summer in the shape of Martin Zubimendi.

Zubimendi has been strongly linked to Arsenal for a long time, and now, it sounds as though this deal is accelerating at a rate of knots.

According to David Ornstein, the Real Sociedad midfielder is now in London to complete his move to Arsenal.

Ornstein claimed that Zubimendi has come to London to complete the formalities of his move to Arsenal.

Arsenal agreed personal terms with Zubimendi a long time ago, and it looks like the deal is now set to be completely agreed and finalised.

Real Sociedad wanted the deal delayed until July, but Zubimendi is now putting the finishing touches to this transfer.

This deal will be worth £52m, via The Athletic, and should represent the first signing of the Andrea Berta era at Arsenal.

Martin Zubimendi already knows some Arsenal stars

Zubimendi is in London to join Arsenal, and while it may be strange for him to be in these new surroundings, he should be able to settle in at the Emirates rather quickly.

Indeed, while Zubimendi may take some time to get to grips with life at Arsenal, he should already have a solid support network at the Emirates as he knows a number of the Gunners’ key players already.

Zubimendi has played with David Raya for Spain, he worked with Martin Odegaard at Real Sociedad, while he was lucky enough to play with Mikel Merino for both Spain and Real Sociedad.

Zubimendi should find it easy enough to settle in at Arsenal, especially with Mikel Arteta’s links to Real Sociedad and the Basque region.

Don’t be surprised if Zubimendi hits the ground running at Arsenal next season.
