David Ornstein reveals Patrick Bamford signed new Leeds contract last summer
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford signed a new contract with the club last summer.
In what will come as surprise news to many at Elland Road, Ornstein has revealed that Bamford that penned fresh terms last year, taking his contract until 2023.
Bamford has been a revelation for the Whites this season, scoring 15 Premier League goals despite doubts over the summer about his readiness for the top flight.
News of his new contract will be a huge boost to Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa. Bamford has been integral in general with his overall play, with the goals coming as an added bonus on top. Further, Bamford could also see a place in the England squad be his, with Gareth Southgate now allowed to select 26 players.
Victor Orta is set to back Bielsa once again this summer following Leeds’ impressive season. Bamford, however, will no doubt remain the key man after keeping out last summer’s big signing, Rodrigo Moreno.
TBR View: Bamford news is a huge boost for Leeds
This is excellent news for Leeds. Bamford has been nothing short of superb so him being tied down for another two years is great for the club.
For Bamford personally, he can hold his head more than high. He’s proven everyone wrong with his goal return and his workrate and all-round game has been exceptional.
This is surprising but very much welcomed news for Leeds and their supporters and a great start to the week.
