Dean Huijsen has been one of the true breakout stars in the Premier League this season.
The Bournemouth defender has been brilliant all season long for the Cherries, and, as you can imagine, his performances have caught the eyes of some of the world’s leading clubs.
Liverpool want Dean Huijsen, while Arsenal have also been linked to the defender.
On top of that, Chelsea are also fans of Huijsen.
Speaking on The Athletic FC Podcast, David Ornstein has been discussing the Spaniard’s future and where he could end up this summer.
According to the journalist, Dean Huijsen is actually most keen on a move to Real Madrid, but, at the moment, there’s no suggestion or indication that Madrid will actually go for Huijsen.

Dean Huijsen wants Real Madrid move
Ornstein shared what he knows about Huijsen.
The journalist says that a number of top Premier League clubs are in for the defender, but his preferred move is Real Madrid.
However, at the moment, Madrid aren’t all that keen on making a deal happen.
“It’s why so many clubs are looking at signing him and activating a £50m release clause that represents pretty good value for money. Leading the chase in alphabetical order is Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. There are others in the frames such as Newcastle United and Tottenham,” Ornstein said.
“I think it’s Real Madrid who have always appealed most to the player himself, but at the time of recording, I’m not aware of them being in a position to proceed with it. And both Bournemouth and the player would like this to be wrapped up relatively swiftly. So as things stand, that would see the Premier League as his most likely destination.”
Real Madrid signings from mid-table Premier League clubs
Real Madrid signing a player from Bournemouth would’ve been unthinkable 15 years ago, but the Cherries have experienced quite the rise in that time.
Real Madrid may be the biggest club in the world, and while their main recruitment strategy is to sign the biggest name ‘Galacticos’, for example, Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to join Real Madrid, they do sometimes dip into the lower reaches of the Premier League for signings.
| Real Madrid signings from mid-table English sides | Club signed from |
| Thomas Graveson | Everton |
| Jonathan Woodgate | Newcastle |
| Lassana Diarra | Portsmouth |
| Julien Faubert | West Ham |
| Laurie Cunningham | West Brom |
Unfortunately for Madrid, these sorts of signings rarely work out.
Thomas Graveson was decent for Madrid, but he never truly fit in, while Jonathan Woodgate endured one of the worst debuts in football history at Madrid.
Lassana Diarra didn’t pull up many trees in the Spanish capital, while Julien Faubert was a downright bizarre signing.
Laurie Cunningham could’ve been a star for Real Madrid, but he had an injury-plagued spell in La Liga, before his untimely passing at the age of just 33.
Madrid have had some real duds from the Premier League in the past, and perhaps that’s why they’re not so sure about signing Huijsen this summer.
