David Moyes says Tottenham have an ‘exceptional’ player who’s inspiring one of West Ham’s talents

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane got a mention in David Moyes’ West Ham press conference today.

The Hammers manager described the Spurs talisman as an “exceptional” leader.

Kane and West Ham midfielder Declan Rice are two of England’s finest players.

The former is the Three Lions captain and star striker, while the latter is one of their key midfielders.

Kane is fifth on the list of England players with the most appearances as skipper.

The 28-year-old has won 61 caps and captained the Three Lions 41 times.

Rice is emerging as a potential future captain for England.

At just 23 years of age, he is already vice-captain at West Ham.

“You hope that Declan’s looking at them”

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip to Liverpool, Moyes commented on Kane as well as Jordan Henderson and Harry Maguire.

He’s glad to see Rice learn from such players in the England setup and hopes his player can develop similar leadership skills.

“I look at some exceptional leaders for England,” Moyes told the club media team.

“I look at Jordan Henderson, Harry Maguire, Harry Kane, so many people who are excellent leaders.

“And the good thing Declan Rice has had is the opportunity to see how they operate.

“Then, he’s also had a brilliant, loyal captain who, for many years, has carried the dressing room at a football club like West Ham, in Mark Noble.

“You hope that Declan’s looking at them and how to operate here, because leadership can come in different forms.

“Some people lead through talking and communicating, others through their actions, so there are many different ways leadership is important.

“Mark Noble over the years has done that here at West Ham, and Declan at the moment is doing a really good job of following.”
