David Moyes says one West Ham player has improved so much in the past six months
West Ham United manager David Moyes says Hammers defender Aaron Cresswell has improved massively in the past six months.
The 31-year-old has been at West Ham since 2014, when he joined the London Stadium outfit from Ipswich in a £4.3million deal.
Cresswell has clocked up 250 appearances in claret and blue, registering eight goals and 27 assists.
This season, the three-cap England international has made 38 appearances in all competitions, including 35 in the Premier League, and has eight assists under his belt.
Cresswell’s latest assist came on Wednesday night as West Ham ran out 3-1 winners over relegated West Brom at The Hawthorns.
The full-back weighed in with some impressive set-piece deliveries, including the corner kick that Angelo Ogbonna headed home to put the Hammers in front.
“I think Aaron Cresswell has played really well in so many of the games,” Moyes told football.london at full time.
“I thought he showed composure tonight when he was dealing with balls in the air and with cushioned headers taking the pressure off of us.
“I think Cressie has improved as a player more in the last six months than in what I had seen in the last couple of years.
“He has really come on again and I think maybe the couple of different roles and I think maybe he has taken pride in the deliveries and in creating the goals and assists.
“And I think he has taken pride in that so he will feel great he has got another assist tonight.”
Cresswell has been a superb player for West Ham over the years, as evidenced by his 250 appearances in claret and blue.
It’s great to hear Moyes say Cresswell has improved so much – with the Hammers on the up, he’s bound to continue making a big impact for the club.
