David Moyes has labelled Jarrod Bowen’s performance during West Ham United’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United ‘exceptional’ as the Hammers secured the point that guaranteed Premier League safety, in comments reported by Football London.
Realistically, the Irons were virtually safe going into the game anyway. Their superior goal difference meant that only a set of freak results would see the chasing pack catch Moyes’s men.
But West Ham ensured that they would be no final day nerves as they secured a point at Old Trafford, with Bowen one of the stars of the show.
The January signing produced an excellent performance, particularly during the second-half as he gave Brandon Williams a torrid time.
And following the game, Moyes suggested that he was hugely impressed by what he saw from the forward.
“He took a couple of kicks, he’d taken one just prior to that and we had started to get Yarmolenko ready but I have to say, I thought he was exceptional today,” he said, as reported by Football London.
“He was threat every time he got the ball, we are just waiting for the goals to come with his play because he has been very good for us.”
The 23-year-old has proved to be an excellent signing this season. He has scored one goal and provided four assists in the top flight. And he has looked lively on a number of occasions.
West Ham fans will be hoping that he can take his game to another level next term, especially after a pre-season with the club – albeit a shorter one.
As Moyes noted, he could be devastating for the Hammers if he can add some more goals to his game next season.
