David Moyes is a huge fan of West Ham transfer target Danny Ings

West Ham United boss David Moyes is said to be a huge fan of Aston Villa striker Danny Ings, with The Daily Mail reporting that the Hammers are trying to sign him right now.

Moyes is facing a defining week in terms of his future in east London after a poor start to the Premier League season.

The Hammers are currently sitting in 18th place and after the club backed Moyes in the transfer market over the summer, the Scotsman is seemingly not only fighting to turn West Ham’s season around, but to also save his job.

Gianluca Scamacca was brought in over the summer in an attempt to provide Moyes with a reliable goal scorer. But the Italian striker has managed just three goals in the Premier League so far, while Michail Antonio has only netted on two occasions.

And it seems that West Ham are now looking at signing Ings in an attempt to solve their attacking woes.

Moyes is a huge fan of Ings

The Daily Mail reports that Moyes is a long-term admirer of Ings and has even tried to sign the former Southampton striker in the past.

The Hammers are seemingly still backing their boss in the transfer market as they have already lodged a £12 million bid for the Englishman.

Ings has also received interest from Everton, with Moyes’ old club keen to land him on an initial loan deal.

Villa did not want to loan their striker out earlier this month, but they are now open to allowing Ings to leave on a permanent basis after they snapped up Jhon Duran recently.

Ings hasn’t quite managed to recapture the ‘brilliant’ form he produced at St Mary’s after sealing a move to Villa for £25 million back in 2021 (Sky Sports).

The 30-year-old has only managed 14 goals in 52 appearances for the Villains, after bagging 46 times in 100 appearances for the Saints.

But West Ham clearly need to bring in a reliable goal scorer as their current options just aren’t providing at the moment.

While Ings has been underwhelming for Villa, he could certainly kick-start his career with a move to London. As Moyes is seemingly a huge fan of the player, a change of scenery may just give him the confidence boost required to start finding the back of the net regularly once again.
