Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points after an excellent win over Brighton last night, and Martin Odegaard was the star of the show.
Mikel Arteta’s men scored four times through Bukayo Saka, Odegaard, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli, and despite an onslaught from Brighton at the end, they did enough to get the win.
Odegaard was named the Man of the Match for the second Premier League game in a row.

David Luiz reacts to Martin Odegaard’s MOTM performance for Arsenal vs Brighton
A few eyebrows were raised last summer when Arteta named Odegaard as Arsenal’s new captain.
The Norwegian is the skipper of his national team as well, but the fact that he had only been at Arsenal for 18 months made many, including Rio Ferdinand, question the decision.
Odegaard, however, has proved everyone wrong, and his performances since the start of this season have been simply sensational.
He’s involved in all the good things Arsenal do in attack, and the major boost for the Gunners is that he has started to add goals to his game – seven in the Premier League this season already.
Against Brighton yesterday, Odegaard scored a lovely goal and provided an even more beautiful assist. He was definitely the best player on the pitch and was rightly awarded the Man of the Match award.
Odegaard took to Instagram to celebrate the victory and the Norwegian received a lot of love from fans and his teammates.
Gunners old-boy David Luiz wrote ‘crack’, while Matt Turner made fun of his celebration. Nketiah commented with a goat and a heart emoji, while Saka used flames to describe his performance.

Odegaard’s stats vs Brighton
Everybody who saw Odegaard play yesterday would’ve applauded his performance, and his stats, as per Statman Dave, look really solid too.
The Norwegian had 46 touches of the ball, completed 28 passes and maintained a healthy 80 per cent passing accuracy. He also registered three key passes and created two big chances, one of which came after a delightful bit of skill in the first half..
To top that off, he scored a goal and picked up an assist in what was a truly magnificent performance against a very tough Brighton side away from home.
Arsenal take on Newcastle next in what will be an even more difficult game. However, if Odegaard steps up, the Gunners will back themselves to get all three points.
