Arsenal defender David Luiz paid teammate Joe Willock a huge compliment after the youngster’s performance on Thursday night.

The Gunners secured a 4-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium against Molde and they still have a 100 per cent win record in their Europa League group.

Mikel Arteta decided to shuffle the pack for his side’s European fixture, with a number of players recalled to the starting XI and there was another chance for some of the club’s youngsters to impress.

Willock, 21, has now caught the eye in back-to-back Europa League matches during the past week and will be desperate to earn his first minutes of the Premier League season.

The Englishman slotted into an attacking midfield position behind the striker against Molde and he was heavily involved for his side in the final third, which included him scoring a late goal with a lofted finish.

Luiz, who cost Arsenal £8million (BBC) and has so much experience at the top level, has explained he enjoys playing with the talented youngster and is predicting a big future.

“Joe is a fantastic kid, a fantastic boy. I’m always behind him to help,” Luiz told BT Sport 2 (10:25pm, 5 November).

“He could do better – and I’m not joking with this – because he has the talent to reach the top level and he understands that every single day.

“For me, he is a pleasure to play with, especially because he is humble. When you are humble you learn things, you can be better and improve. He is humble and for sure he has a great present and a great future.”

TBR’s View:

It’s a been a constant criticism of Arsenal this season that they don’t score enough and there Premier League record this season is just nine goals in seven matches.

They are crying out for some extra legs and creativity in the centre of the pitch, which is something that exciting youngster Willock can give and surely he’s done enough to impress the manager with his recent European displays.

It’s a competition that the North London club have got to be aiming to win this season, but for the meantime their focus is back on the league and they are still trying to find their best form in it.
