David James praises Jurgen Klopp and says he deserves to win the Premier League

The former Liverpool goalkeeper is clearly a fan of the German.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has shown his admiration for current Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp and said he deserves to lift the Premier League this season.

As per the Daily Mirror, James made it clear he’s a fan of the former Borussia Dortmund manager, who has guided his side to the top of the table this season with a 100 per cent record.

He said: “I learnt about Jurgen quite early the way that he manages that team and the confidence he gives players. When he first came in he didn’t make any signings, that just instilled a level of confidence in the players. Trusting people to do what they’re capable of, rather than just replace them straight away.

“I want Liverpool to win it. You’d imagine Liverpool are going to drop some points, and Man City will keep gaining points. Liverpool will do it, I would like Liverpool to do it because Jurgen Klopp deserves it and the club deserves it.”

TBR’s View – James is right to point out how much Klopp has improved players he inherited

There is plenty of talk across town at Liverpool’s bitter rivals Manchester United about needing to spend hundreds of millions of pounds once more.

That completely ignores that an elite manager should be able to coach improvement out of his players and that’s exactly what Klopp has done at Anfield.

Of course, he needed to dip into the transfer market to get the top bracket players to top the side off, but he did a fantastic job of getting the level of his initial squad up.

The likes of Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson and James Milner have all stepped up hugely under Klopp and that is perhaps an area of his management which does not get as much praise as it should.
