David James discusses Tottenham reportedly pursuing £50m PL star
David James has told Sky Sports News (Tuesday, 11:25AM) that Harry Kane would thrive even more so at Tottenham, if Spurs can sign Adama Traore.
Tottenham are reportedly keen on £50million-rated attacker Adama in a potential deadline-day swoop. But nothing has been done as of yet.
However, Tottenham may find that Wolves want as much as £15million more than that figure. Athletic claim Wolves rate Adama at £50million.
Asked about Tottenham signing Adama, ex-England goalkeeper thinks Kane and Son Heung-min would thrive at Spurs with the addition of Adama.
“He is a fantastic player, he is just showing an elevation on what he had last season. Harry Kane and Son would thrive of his service,” James said.
“£50million is a lot of money, but if Tottenham were looking to break into the top four then this would be a real signal of intent.”
James on Adama: End product a £50m worry for Tottenham
For such an expensive outlay, Tottenham should be signing a player that gets goals and assists on a regular basis. Adama is not that player.
Of course, fans of the Spain international will state that it is his direct style of play. His explosive speed and strength that is worth £50million.
But two goals and three assists last season is simply not enough for a player, if he is going to cost £50million. His end product is not good enough.
While he might create more chances, he will only show glimpses of brilliance. He lacks consistency. Under Nuno, that could arrive.
But it is too risky at £50million. Spurs are better off saving their money and looking elsewhere in the remaining hours.
