David Ginola has hailed Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino after his team booked their spot in this season’s Champions League final.

Spurs will face Liverpool in an all-English final in Madrid and booked their spot on Wednesday night in dramatic fashion.

Lucas Moura scored a second-half hat-trick against Ajax to completely turn the semi-final on its head on a famous European night.

Ex-Spurs midfielder Ginola pinpointed the genius of Pochettino for his tactical ability, as his substitution at half-time worked exceptionally well.

Fernando Llorente made a colossal impact in the second-half as a target man after entering the action as a half-time substitute and was the perfect focal point in attack.

“After the first half, I thought it was gone. The performance wasn’t there. Putting Llorente on made the difference. It is why Pochettino is a great manager,” Ginola told talkSPORT.

“When the team is not performing well, he has the ability to see what is wrong and change it in a second.”

TBR’s View:

Spurs fans know how lucky they are to have Pochettino at the helm and he’s done a remarkable job since he arrived in 2014.

Reaching the Champions League final has to be the pinnacle so far for the Argentinian boss and he does deserve his first piece of silverware, but have a brilliant Liverpool side waiting in the final.

Pochettino has guided his team to a European final without injured star Harry Kane for large spells, but he trusted in understudy Fernando Llorente to deliver off the pitch and he did just that with his presence in the final third.

There is also the fact that there have been no new signings over the last two transfer windows and the manager has had to work with the players in his squad.
