Arsenal fans have been reacting on Twitter today as the club confirmed the signing of Brighton stopper Mat Ryan on a loan deal.

The Australian goalkeeper joins the Gunners as the number two to Bernd Leno and paves the way for summer signing, Alex Runnarsson, to potentially leave the club before the end of January.

Ryan has plenty of experience in the Premier League and will hope to follow in the footsteps of Emi Martinez, who proved a key player last season while Leno was nursing an injury.

The transfer arrived out of the blue, too, as most Arsenal fans eagerly awaited news of Martin Odegaard’s arrival. Gunners supporters, then, were quick to react on Twitter to the news.

And while some were sceptical of the deal, some Arsenal fans were happy to see their club make a sensible transfer during the window.
