David Dein has labelled Bukayo Saka an extraordinary talent, and picked out two of his Arsenal teammates who are also world-class in his eyes.

Dein was speaking on talkSPORT as he agreed with Henry Winter’s suggestion that the 22-year-old seems to receive particularly tough treatment from opposition players.

Bukayo Saka has made another brilliant start to the new season. The England international has scored six goals and provided eight assists in all competitions.

David Dein says Bukayo Saka is an extraordinary player

Remarkably, Saka is the only Arsenal player in Premier League history to score or provide an assist against every team he has faced in the competition. And he has now set up a goal in his last three appearances for club and country.

Gunners fans have got used to seeing some pretty robust challenges made on Saka over the last few years. When David Dein was asked about the treatment Saka gets, he suggested that his talent forces opponents to kick him.

“Yeah I think you’re probably right, Henry. I think he’s an extraordinary talent,” he told talkSPORT. “And I think Arsenal are blessed at the moment, without naming names particularly, but I have to, because in Saka, in Martinelli and in Odegaard, they’ve got three world-class players.

“Saliba is doing a fantastic job at the back. They’ve got the nucleus of a very good team there.”

Arsenal squad has so much potential

Arsenal fans have not seen the best of Martin Odegaard this season. But there is absolutely no question that he is a phenomenal talent who has really stepped up since being handed the captaincy.

Gabriel Martinelli meanwhile, has the ability to light up games. His partnership with Saka is arguably one of the most exciting in the world right now.

As Dein suggests, Arsenal have a group of players who boast enormous potential. They are already battling for the Premier League title and in the Champions League. And yet, several of them are some way off reaching their peaks.

No-one can really argue with Dein’s assessment of those four players. And there are others who have a very bright future ahead, too.
