David de Gea has sent a message to Sergio Reguilon after his Manchester United loan was cut short this week.

Sergio Reguilon joined Man United over the summer on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spaniard was snapped up as an emergency signing for the left-back position as cover for long-term absentees Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

Reguilon performed fairly well despite a difficult start to the season for United, starting a total of seven games for the club.

The 27-year-old made a total of 12 appearances and his performances largely went down well with the United faithful. But the Red Devils ultimately decided to cut the deal short, with Shaw and Malacia both closing in on returns.

De Gea sends message to Reguilon after United exit

Reguilon took to social media on Thursday and posted a heartfelt thank you message to United and their supporters.

He wrote: “It has been great to play for Manchester United and I just want to say thank you to the club, the fans and my teammates.

“It was a privilege to play for this huge club. I wish all the best for the Red Devils.”

And De Gea left a wordless reply underneath the post by replying with an emoji.

Reguilon performed well considering he was out of favour at Tottenham before the switch to Old Trafford.

Things just haven’t worked out for him since joining Spurs from Sevilla back in the summer of 2020.

But his displays for United seem to have generated some interest in the full-back, with Bournemouth said to be keen.

His short spell in Manchester will have benefitted Tottenham as the Londoners were previously struggling to offload the full-back.
