Tottenham Hotspur are enjoying a solid start to the Thomas Frank era.

Indeed, Spurs have won three of their first four matches in the Premier League this season, while they also got off to a winning start in the Champions League on Tuesday.

A number of Tottenham players have started this season well.

Richarlison has earned plenty of praise so far this term, while Lucas Bergvall has been excellent too.

Speaking on Inside Spurs, David Bentley has been discussing Bergvall’s recent performances, and he paid the midfielder a serious compliment.

Lucas Bergvall is similar to Jude Bellingham

Bentley spoke about Bergvall’s start to this season.

The pundit described the Swede as a ‘great player’, claiming that he really reminds him of Jude Bellingham with the way he runs with the ball.

“But he’s a great player, so positive on the ball. And if you’ve got a player like that in your team, making them forward runs. He’s like, you know, that Bellingham type, sort of running forward, that strong with the ball,” Bentley said.

“And his head never goes down. He makes mistakes. And he seems like a player that can brush off mistakes easily. And to have a player like that in your team, it certainly sets that tempo”

What Ange Postecoglou said about Lucas Bergvall/Jude Bellingham comparisons

This isn’t the first time Bergvall has been compared to Bellingham.

Indeed, last season, Ange Postecoglou was asked about the midfielder and if he saw similarities between the teenager and the Real Madrid star.

“It’s hard to say (if Bergvall is similar to Bellingham). It’s always hard comparing players. He does seem to have that unique trait of being able to play those different roles in midfield,” Postecoglou said.

“Usually, midfielders will tend to be one or the other, but he seems to cover the defensive side of the game, have the technical ability to dictate tempos but also have the running capacity to break lines.

“I think he’s got goals in him as well. He scored his first one but from what we’ve seen in training, he’s a good finisher. That’s the exciting bit. We’ve got to temper that with the fact that he’s 18 and still got a lot to learn, but from my perspective, that’s exciting.

“The fact that there’s a few players in this team that are multifunctional in that way, it just gives you great scope for what we’re trying to create moving forward.”

Of course, Bergvall isn’t quite at Bellingham’s level yet, but make no mistake about it, this is a young player with a massive future ahead of him.

Who knows? Perhaps one day Bergvall could reach Bellingham’s level and become a world superstar.
