Departing Rangers chairman Dave King has attempted to fend off potential suitors for Alfredo Morelos by insisting the club wouldn’t even sell for £40 million.
King – who is leaving the club at the turn of the year – suggests the club will be under no financial pressure to cash in on the Colombian, who has been linked with an Ibrox exit for some time.
He said (Daily Record): “I would say to you that I can’t imagine a circumstance where we will sell Alfredo.

“I’ve said to the manager, if you get offered £25 million for him, £30 million, I wouldn’t sell him. You make your decision.
“I don’t want money in the bank. We’re here to win league titles.
“I made the point – we’re not like a mid-tier Premier League club who can trade players, make good money but are not under any pressure to win the league.
“The most important thing for us this year is to have the best shot at winning the league.

“I would rather keep Alfredo. If they offered £40 million and the manager came to me, I’d be saying my instinct would be to keep him. We know he’s going to score goals. My view is not to sell him under any circumstances.”
Morelos has been in fine form once again this term, hitting 22 goals in 26 appearances for the Light Blues.
TBR’s view – Morelos vital to league title bid
King’s comments are sure to go down well with the supporters, who know that keeping Morelos will be key to any successful league title bid.

His goals, and the remarkable rate at which he scores them, are vital for the Gers and who knows how far off Celtic they’d be without him.
Quite simply, no Morelos would mean a ninth consecutive title going straight to Parkhead.
