Darren Randolph has hinted that West Ham United could still sign Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard this summer. The Irish goalkeeper has taken to Instagram to suggest that even Lingard himself still wants a move. Randolph jokes he will see Lingard at Rush Green soon.

Lingard, 28, joined West Ham on loan during the second half of the 2020-21 season. He was firmly down the pecking order at United, convincing him to join West Ham. Playing 16 times, Lingard almost got himself back into the England side for Euro 2020 – with nine goals and five assists in those games.

Obviously, that has seen West Ham fans urge Lingard to remain at West Ham permanently – with less than 12 months remaining on his contract. But Lingard, a Manchester United academy product, looks set to play a part for the Hammers this summer. But Randolph has other ideas on Instagram.

Lingard to West Ham: Does Randolph know something we don’t?

The chances of West Ham getting Lingard look slim. Even though he is out of contract soon, Lingard is likely to be of the view that his loan at West Ham has reignited his Manchester United career. There will be game time for Lingard, with United fighting in Europe – on four fronts in total.

But he will not be first choice and if the West Ham owners are to spend big – surely it will be on a player like Lingard. He has shown he improves West Ham, he has shown he scores, creates goals and claret in blue. If West Ham have £30million (Mirror, as per MEN), then Lingard needs to be bought.
