Darren Randolph has spoken to West Ham’s official website about what it was like making his second debut for the club on Saturday.

Randolph made the first appearance of his second spell at the club in the 1-1 draw with Everton on Saturday, having rejoined from Middlesbrough.

He said: “n a weird way, because there are so many of the same faces here, it doesn’t really feel like I’ve been away. I’ve been around the training ground before. I’ve played in the stadium before, so there weren’t as many nerves as I expected. There’s still a lot of the same faces around the club,

“II’ve always wanted to have a crack at coming back to the Club. I’ve got the chance to play and push [Lukasz Fabianski] as hard as I can, and hopefully it’ll work out for both of us and it’s best for the club.”

TBR’s View – Randolph’s familiarity should help him hit the ground running

West Ham needed a goalkeeper who could come in during the January transfer window and hit the ground running, easing the woes of Roberto’s spell in goal.

Randolph might well have been an underwhelming arrival in a window where more is needed, but his familiarity with the club could allow him to do exactly that.

The key is that he’s fit and able to stay fit. That’s why his move was so delayed but the fact he started and played well against Everton is a good early sign.
