Darren O’Dea says he had nothing to do with Rangers loan exit for Josh McPake

Rangers have allowed winger Josh McPake to join Dundee on loan until January, with a view to extending that deal until the end of the season. Steven Gerrard is a big fan of the Ibrox teen and is hopeful he can thrive with first-team football in the Scottish Championship.

It looks like a great deal for all parties involved. So much so that even a former Celtic player helped Rangers get the deal over the line. According to The Scotsman, the former Republic of Ireland international Darren O’Dea was ‘thought to have been instrumental’ in getting the deal done.

His links to Dundee and the Rangers talent’s agent Stephen Pearson were cited as reasons why.

It seems however that he was only ever ‘thought’ to have been part of the deal. O’Dea himself has come out on Twitter to explain that despite his best wishes for the Rangers youngster, he had absolutely nothing to do with the deal getting over the line.

Rangers fans are likely glad this former Old Firm rival had nothing to do with the move but it is good to see the Irishman wishing the Ibrox talent well.

Hopefully, he can prove himself a hit both at Dens Park now and at Ibrox in the future.
