Darren Bent urges Tottenham to sign Everton star Jordan Pickford

Darren Bent has urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to replace club captain Hugo Lloris.

The Frenchman is Spurs’ most experienced player. He is a real leader and is one of the most important members of the squad, but everyone will agree that he’s not at the level he once was.

It’s time for Tottenham to move him on.

Darren Bent urges Tottenham to sign Everton star Jordan Pickford

90 Min’s Graeme Bailey told TeamTalk last week that Antonio Conte is ‘almost certain’ to replace Lloris next season.

The Frenchman, who will turn 36 on Boxing Day next month, is in the twilight of his career. He has been a great servant for Spurs over the last decade, but he has been making plenty of mistakes these days, and it’s time for him to move on.

Bent believes there’s a perfect candidate in the England squad to replace Lloris – Pickford.

The £30 million man (BBC) will enter the final year of his contract next summer, and it’s about time that he gets a move to a top club in the Premier League. Bent has urged Spurs to go and get him.

He said on talkSPORT: “There’s one where I think he’ll have to move on and that’s Jordan Pickford. The situation at Everton, it doesn’t look good. They’re one of the favourites to go down, I think they’ll survive.”

When asked if he could move to Tottenham: “Why not? Lloris is getting on now, he’s making a few mistakes, there’s no reason why Jordan Pickford is there and ready, why would you not take him at Spurs?”

Pickford is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old doesn’t always get the credit he deserves, but he has shown for both Everton and England that he’s an extremely reliable player between the sticks.

As he enters the final year of his contract next summer, Pickford will definitely explore his options. A move to Tottenham will be an attractive opportunity for him, especially if Spurs qualify for the Champions League again.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Pickford next summer, but we have a feeling he’ll leave Everton.
