Darren Bent told he’s ‘lost the plot’ after what he’s just said about West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen is West Ham United’s captain and one of the most pivotal members of the squad, which is why Darren Bent has been told he has “lost the plot” after his latest critique of him.

The forward has had a difficult season so far in the Premier League, which has seen him argue with West Ham fans at the side of the pitch.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to build the team around Bowen, and he has shown that his individual game is as strong as ever.

Those performances allowed Bowen to be called into the England setup for the previous international break, and while he struggled to make his mark during those fixtures, he played a part in the Three Lions’ winning both fixtures.

Darren Bent has questioned whether Jarrod Bowen will feature in England’s World Cup squad

Now that England have officially qualified for next year’s World Cup, the discussion has immediately turned to who should be in Thomas Tuchel’s squad, and he has no shortage of options, especially out wide.

Those debates have already commenced on talkSPORT, with Bent and Andy Goldstein debating over whether or not Bowen should be part of the team.

“Why no Bowen?” Goldstein asked.

“Simply for the fact I’ve seen Saka and Madueke have really good games for England. Bowen, I’m yet to see. I know he’s good for West Ham,” Bent said.

“Do you think Madueke is better than Bowen?” Goldstein asked

“He’s been better for England,” Bent said.

“I’ll ask the question again. Do you think Madueke is better than Bowen overall?” Goldstein asked.

“Yeah,” Bent said.

“I think you’ve lost the plot. And then I think, let’s just analyse what you’ve just said there. There ain’t no way Madueke is better than Jarrod Bowen,” Goldstein said.

How do Noni Madueke and Jarrod Bowen compare for club and country?

There’s no question that Madueke and Bowen are two of the most talented English wingers available to Tuchel. But with Bukayo Saka almost guaranteed to be on the plane and Cole Palmer able to play on the right, there might not be room for both of them.

Madueke has been getting plenty of attention this season in an Arsenal shirt, yet he hasn’t produced a single goal or assist for the Gunners. In comparison, Bowen has scored three and provided one assist in a struggling West Ham side.

Of course, Bowen has more appearances, goals, and assists in the Premier League overall, which is expected given that he’s the elder statesman of the two.

However, the playing field at an international level is slightly more level, as neither man has truly established themselves as the first choice for the Three Lions.

Given that Madueke has already outperformed Bowen in an England shirt in 10 fewer games, there is evidence to support Bent’s belief that he should be on the plane over the West Ham star.

However, the 28-year-old does provide more experience, which Tuchel has made clear he wants in his squad. Either way, it’s an interesting debate, and one that is likely to rage on until the squad is named, with both men having the full season to book their place due to consistent performances.
