‘Carrying a knock’: Darren Bent claims one Tottenham player is injured and not right at this World Cup

Darren Bent has given his reaction to the England v USA game last night and he believes Harry Kane is playing with a bit of an injury.

Kane was given the nod in attack again despite fears over his ankle. Gareth Southgate opted to start his skipper, and Kane did have two good chances to win the game early on and then in injury time.

However, Kane was also spotted hobbling a tad after the game as well. His ankle was strapped, prompting some to believe he might well be a doubt for the clash with Wales on Tuesday.

And giving his reaction to England and Kane on Twitter, former striker Darren Bent believes the Tottenham man is very much carrying something.

Bent, who is watching the England games for TalkSPORT at this tournament, is a self-confessed Arsenal fan.

However, he won’t want to wish ill-health on anyone, even if Kane being injured does eventually help Arsenal in finishing above Spurs.

It will be interesting to see how Kane responds in the coming days. He could well sit out some training sessions as England protect their star man. Callum Wilson or Marcus Rashford will be waiting in the wings.

TBR’s View: Kane could do with Wales rest

England are basically through anyway and have enough in the squad without Kane to see off a poor Wales side.

Giving Kane a game off or putting him on the bench might be the best step for England here. Nobody wants to see the Three Lions skipper injured, and Bent’s observations are right really.

Should Kane play and then have to go off, the noise coming at Southgate and Holland would be massive. Not least from Antonio Conte, who will be biting his nails when it comes to Kane’s fitness.
