Darren Bent has told TalkSPORT that Tottenham should forget about appointing Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers as the club’s new manager.
The ex-Celtic boss has been touted as a potential replacement for Jose Mourinho who was sacked by Daniel Levy yesterday.
Several other names are being brandished around, including Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann.
Bent, however, isn’t sure who Tottenham will get as Mourinho’s successor but thinks appointing Rodgers will be a struggle.

He told TalkSPORT: “I can fully understand why Nagelsmann wants Bayern over Spurs.
“Brendan Rodgers at Leicester is a fantastic manager but I was looking at the squads before and Leicester have a better squad if I’m honest.
“It’s who’s going to appease the Spurs fans. We all know they loved Pochettino and it’s going to have to be someone of that type of ilk, someone who plays that free-flowing attacking way.
“You always hear it, the Spurs way. The only one I can think of is Rodgers but I don’t think he leaves Leicester to go to Spurs.”
Rodgers has been at the King Power Stadium since February 2009 when he chose to leave Celtic behind.
He has improved the club considerably and should lead his team into the Champions League next season.
As a result, that will make it an almighty task for Tottenham to consider luring him away from the East Midlands.
TBR View: Bent has a point but it shouldn’t stop Spurs from trying
The beauty of appointing Rodgers would be his knowledge of the division and the short settling in period he would need.
It’s quite relevant at the moment, particularly from a Tottenham perspective, but money talks in football.
Rodgers left Celtic for Leicester for a bigger salary so what’s to say that he wouldn’t do the same should Spurs come calling.

Spurs have to get their next managerial appointment spot on. Rodgers with his attractive style and ability to get the best out of younger players could be perfect.
As a result, Levy should at least be holding a conversation with the Leicester boss.
