Darren Bent shocked by what he saw £40m Chelsea player do v Burnley today

It was another dismal day at the office for Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea today as they drew with Burnley at home.

The Blues once again put in a performance not worth of a team with top six aspirations and beyond.

Indeed, if it wasn’t for Cole Palmer twice putting them ahead and producing the goods when it mattered, then Chelsea might have walked away from this game with nothing.

Chelsea fans were fuming at the end as they allowed two leads to slip and ten-man Burnley to take a point.

But while the performance overall was poor, at least there was more positivity from the aforementioned Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer impresses for Chelsea again

Palmer has become Chelsea’s main man since signing for around £40m in the summer and has taken himself to 20 goal involvements with his brace today.

Of course, from the penalty spot, Palmer is becoming Chelsea’s Mr Reliable.

Once again today, the England man showed his quality by dinking his penalty past the Burnley goalkeeper and into the net.

And commenting on the incident for Premier League live, former Premier League striker Darren Bent admitted it was something he’d not even attempt in training!

“I wouldn’t attempt that in training, let alone in a match!,” Bent said.

Cole Palmer proving his worth

There were eyebrows raised in the summer when Chelsea decided to splash out on Palmer, while some questioned why he’d left the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

But right now, it’s looking like a brilliant decision, despite Chelsea being poor in general.

Palmer is very much in contention to be in the England squad and right now it would be more of a surprise if he wasn’t taken to Germany.

The fact Palmer has now hit 13 goals this season is quite remarkable and at such a young age, he already feels like Chelsea’s main man.

The Englishman, then, is one major positive for the Blues to take from an otherwise shocking season.
