Darren Bent has shared whether he believes that Harry Kane still made the right decision choosing to leave Tottenham Hotspur to join Bayern Munich in the summer.

For someone who has scored nearly 400 career goals for club and country, Harry Kane has had to deal with a remarkable amount of criticism. And once again, a bizarre claim that there is a curse associated with the striker has popped up again with Bayern Munich having a rough time.

Bayern have a big task trying to win the Bundesliga, particularly after losing heavily to Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. And they are on the back foot after losing the first-leg of their Champions League last 16 clash with Lazio on Wednesday.

Darren Bent asked if Harry Kane made mistake leaving Tottenham

Tottenham meanwhile, have been one of the most exciting sides in the Premier League this season. And it is an outstanding effort to be on pole position for a top-four spot when you consider that one of their greatest ever players did leave on the eve of the new season.

Speaking on talkSPORT however, Darren Bent believes that the striker was still right to make the move to Bavaria in the summer.

“Yeah, because it’s still Bayern Munich. Again, you look at the way Spurs play at the minute, and it is really nice to watch. But there’s no guarantees that he fits that system that Ange Postecoglou has,” he said.

“Long-term, you’d miss Harry Kane, that’s a fact, because of the amount of goals he scores. But I still think, to go to Bayern Munich, which is one of the biggest clubs in the world, how can you pooh-pooh that?”

Striker will still stand by his decision last summer

It is hard to imagine Kane not doing well in Postecoglou’s system. Ultimately, every single player in the squad seems to have improved. And if you asked the Tottenham boss, he would surely say he would have absolutely no problem with having the England captain in the ranks still.

Perhaps the mistake was leaving when he had one year left on his contract. The 30-year-old would have had his pick of the world’s best clubs had he been a free agent this coming summer.

Bayern could still win silverware this season. Certainly, many will still expect them to overcome Lazio. And they are only five points off the top of the table. So there is still a decent chance that it could be a fantastic season for Bayern.

It is too soon for Kane to have any regrets, when you consider how well he has played. It says everything about how good Tottenham have done that the question is whether the striker has made a mistake.
