Darren Bent has told TalkSPORT that he reckons Manchester United could become “very appealing” to Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this summer, after the England captain commented on his future in an interview with Jamie Redknapp.
Plenty of talk has been had on the future of 26-year-old Kane, who has scored a whopping 181 goals in 278 Tottenham appearances – yet the Spurs star is yet to have any trophies to show for it. This season, he has 17 goals and two assists.
With Tottenham currently in eighth position in the Premier League, Spurs seem to be going backwards. Kane was asked by Redknapp about his future on Instagram, and he stated he would remain if he felt Spurs were going in the right direction.
“It all depends on what happens as a team and how we progress as a team. So it’s not a definite I’m going to stay there forever – but it’s not a no either,” Kane said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
Former Tottenham striker Bent reacted to Kane refusing to rule out a Tottenham exit in the next few years, and Bent discussed where Kane could move to fulfil his dream of winning a Premier League trophy.

“Liverpool, no – they’re set with their front three. Manchester City, no. Manchester United, potentially,” Bent said. “If they add [Jack] Grealish and [Jadon] Sancho and Marcus Rashford – he might look at the situation and think that looks very appealing.
“He wouldn’t be the first high-profile striker. [Dimitar] Berbatov, he went to United. Can they afford him? They probably could – but could they afford Sancho, Grealish and Kane? I don’t think that is going to be possible.
“I think he might give it another year and then assess his options.”
TBR’s view – What must Tottenham do to keep Kane?
If Bent’s prediction rings true, Tottenham have got to show Kane that staying at the club under Jose Mourinho is the right decision. So what is deemed as progression in Mourinho’s first full season?
Champions League football looks unlikely. If Spurs enter the Europa League, then the only progression would be to win the competition come May 2021 (if the season goes ahead as planned).
In the league, a return to the top four and either an FA Cup or a League Cup win would be progression. A number of big-name signings, too. Plenty of work needs to be done to keep Kane for just one more year.
