Arsenal have been urged to ensure Alexandre Lacazette doesn’t walk away from the club for nothing, after the Frenchman once again impressed against Wolves last night.
Lacazette is among a number of Arsenal players who have yet to put pen to paper on fresh terms with the club. Eddie Nketiah is another attacking player in a similar boat to the experienced Lacazette.

However, unlike Nketiah, Lacazette is proving crucial for the Gunners. Given the captain’s armband, he has proved himself a fine player for Mikel Arteta. And while the goals might not be flowing and he did blow a big chance last night, Talksport’s Darren Bent believes Arsenal simply cannot afford to let their man go.
“I’d give him a new contract. Just as cover. Even if we get someone else in. Maybe not as your number nine because you need your number nine to score goals,” Bent said on Talksport today.
“Don’t let him go for nothing and have no plan B in place. Sign him up now, and then worry about getting someone else down the line. Arsenal can’t make that mistake.”
Lacazette has scored just the three goals this season, including a goal deemed ‘magical’ on MOTD earlier in December.
TBR’s View: Arguments For And Against Lacazette Exist
There is no doubt that Alexandre Lacazette is playing well. He’s stepped up well as captain and even though the goals aren’t quite there, he is doing well.
However, he is on big money. And Arsenal will need to offer big money again if they want to keep him around. That’s where the risk is for the Gunners. Do they end up in the same boat as they did with the likes of Aubameyang, Willian, and Mesut Ozil?
That is the big question Edu and Arteta need to answer.
