Darren Bent says £50m striker would be a risky signing for Arsenal because of his attitude

Arsenal’s search for a striker is still ongoing.

Arsenal have been looking for a striker for such a long time now.

12 months ago, Arsenal wanted Ivan Toney, but that deal didn’t go ahead, while, in the summer, Arsenal wanted Benjamin Sesko.

The transfer window is open again and Arsenal still need a striker.

Gabriel Jesus is out of action for a long time, and Arsenal need a new number nine.

Speaking on Inside Gooners, Darren Bent has been discussing some of Arsenal’s potential targets.

Dusan Vlahovic has been linked to Arsenal recently, while Arsenal have looked at Victor Oshimen too.

According to Bent, both of those signings would be a risk, with Bent claiming that Osimhen’s attitude could be a problem.

Victor Osimhen would be a risky signing

Bent shared his verdict on some of the strikers Arsenal have been linked with.

According to the pundit, Arsenal have been linked with a number of risky options, including Victor Osimhen.

“And everyone else is a risk. Sesko would be a risk by coming to Arsenal. Vlahovic, he turned Arsenal down before,” Bent said.

What’s his desire going to be to come back and actually come to the club and score goals? Victor Osimhen, is he really going to be the answer? Yes, he was good at Napoli, but maybe his attitude has been questioned on occasions, that’s still a risk.

I just don’t think you can just go out there and guarantee, right, we know he’s the guy who’s going to go and score us 20, 25 goals. Gyokeres is another one. I watched him a lot of Coventry.

Big fan of his, he’s at Sporting, Sporting has been doing really well. Can he come to the Premier League, which is the hardest league in the world to score goals in, and can score 15 to 20? Again, it’s another risk.”

Victor Osimhen career stats

Bent says that Osimhen would be a risky signing, but his career statistics suggest otherwise.

Indeed, the £50m man is one of few strikers in the world who can guarantee you goals.

Osimhen knows how to find the back of the net, and while he may have had a messy departure from Napoli in the summer, that wasn’t necessarily his fault.

Indeed, the club themselves haven’t been the best to Osimhen over the past 18 months or so, and there’s nothing to suggest that Osimhen would be a problem player at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta, of course, doesn’t stand for bad eggs in his squad – he ditched Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for that exact reason, and if he approves a move for Osimhen, you have to trust the manager’s judgment.

Arsenal could do a lot worse than signing Osimhen this month, that’s for sure.
