Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has praised Ben Davies, branding the Welshman one of the team’s ‘standout performers’ in 2020/21.
The star came up with a rare goal in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Stoke City last night, firing home to put Spurs 2-1 ahead on 70 minutes.
Jose Mourinho’s side went on to score again through Harry Kane to win 3-1 and book their place in the competition’s semi-finals, where they will face Brentford.

Davies was handed a start over Sergio Reguilon, who has been playing the bulk of the Premier League games recently.
The Spaniard has looked a fanastic addition, meaning Davies has had to take up more of a deputy role.
But Bent paid him a nice compliment with his analysis on Sky Sports after the game.
He said: “He’s been defending really well this season. He’s been one of their standout performers. Take nothing away from that, it’s a great strike from Ben Davies and we don’t really associate goals like that from him. Thoroughly deserved.”
TBR’s View – Davies an important squad player
With Spurs competing on four fronts, Davies will still have a key role to play for Spurs this season.

Reguilon may be Mourinho’s first-choice, but the 27-year-old will be on hand to come in when needed.
hThe £60,000-a-week star (Spotrac) sometimes gets a rough ride, but largely Davies is dependable and Bent’s praise is warranted.
