Darren Bent has suggested that Tottenham’s midfield is the “weak area” in their squad and that it could be a problem for them.
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has settled on a midfield pivot of Moussa Sissoko and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the last three consecutive Premier League games, with Tanguy Ndombele the extra central midfielder alongside them given a bit more of a licence to join in with attacks.
The North London club managed to win 1-0 away to Burnley on Monday night in the league without playing attractive football and it was a resilient performance across the pitch that showed great mentality.
But ex-Spurs forward Bent feels the centre of the park may still be an issue for his former club and isn’t sure about playing Sissoko alongside summer signing Hojbjerg.
“Even with Sissoko last night I know it’s a lot of endeavour, he runs around, he works really hard, but he hasn’t got that creative spark. If you’re going with Sissoko, Hobjerg and whoever else is in there I still think that’s a bit of a weak area,” Bent told talkSPORT (8:15am, 27 October).

TBR’s View:
Hojbjerg looks a nailed-on starter given his impressive start to life at Spurs, which is why if there is anyone that needs to be dropped from the midfield it would have to be Sissoko.
There could be a possibility to use Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso as a midfield pairing just in front of Hojbjerg and that would provide a great balance, but that may not be the right way to approach fixtures against the elite teams.
It’s a great selection headache for Mourinho to have and he’s got a group of players now that have to be hunting down silverware this season.
